It's that time of year to start thinking about caroling, stocking stuffers and holiday portraits! Catchlight Photography will be offering one morning of holiday mini-sessions this year to provide a quick and easy opportunity to update your friends and family with a new portrait in your Christmas cards! Last year's mini portrait sessions were a big hit, so book a 20 minute appointment for Saturday, November 15th at Wegerzyn Gardens Metro Park today! Session slots begin at 9AM.

My little brother isn't so young anymore (of course, as I type this, I know he's winking and reminding me how OLD I am!), but I thought I would give him a shout out and wish him all the best on his 17th birthday! Oh, to be 17 again... what would I do differently? Inevitably it always comes back to this- mom and dad usually know what's best!
Catchlight Photography is officially closed for business here in San Diego! Thank you so much to my clients for their support and patronage over the past year and a half- I am blown away by the customer loyalty and referrals I have had. If you are a past client and have any further questions, inquiries, print orders or touch ups needed, I will have to delay them until we get to our new home in August since my main PC is getting packed away today.
Thank you again, I am truly blessed by you!

Oh what a treat it was tonight to be able to try out a new location in the area- if only I had known before my second to last shoot in San Diego what a treasure of a place it is to do shoots here! I imagine wedding photographers go ga-ga over the natural backdrops that have been added to the village and winery.
You know it's going to be a fun shoot when you start out with a moment like this (pardon the sun flare, but I kind of like it)!
This little guy was a runner, but I caught about three shots of him catching a glance at the dinosaur in my camera - here's one of my favorites:
Another favorite with some backlighting (oh thank you sunshine!):
And here's mom and dad joining in for a more formal portrait- they are such a good looking bunch, aren't they?
Thank you"D" family, I had a wonderful time spending the evening with you :)
Windansea Beach is mighty popular for the local surfers, tourists and family photographers! There is always one, two, three or more of us down in La Jolla, armed with fancy camera gear, some have soft boxes, some have the amazing 70-200mm telephoto lens, and we all bring differing years of experience... but the one thing we have in common is: Families. Families love the textured rocks against the Pacific Ocean & bring with them hope of the perfect beach portrait to be framed in their living space. And they entrust that to us.
I was so flattered to have the opportunity to take fellow photographers portraits tonight-- the team at Zabrosky Photography booked me for an updated classic photo that would include both of their daughters (news on the street is that last formal family photo included only their firstborn). Despite the June gloom weather, the kids were full of energy, making my time with all of them a joy!
Enjoy your sneak peek, Zab Family!
Can you see what their son is actually doing here? Checking his camera phone pics. No, really.
An imperfect 'portrait', but perfect moment. Probably my favorite shot of the evening:
(did you notice the fantastic pedicure on Mama?? She got a great deal!)
Just a sweet moment toward the end of our shoot- thanks for a great evening Zabroskys!
Well, they might just call it a pier down by our lcoal beach, but this was my first shoot under a 'boardwalk', and let me tell you, I was pretty excited. Plus, this family is good friends of ours- they had even let me do a trial beach shoot on them last year. So, without further delay- a few of my favorite shots from our session tonight by the Scripps Pier down in La Jolla. Enjoy!
What do you think- don't you love that pier as a backdrop?
Yesterday I got to meet sweet, smiley Baby L. She is just 3 months shy from her first birthday-- I think her smiles are a good indicator that she knows cupcakes are just around the corner!
And one more with her older sister:
What a couple of beautiful ladies! Thank you for a fun session at the park :)
Dear friends of ours arrived back home this past week after serving the people of Kosovo for six years by loving on them following the terrible genocide of the 90s. This shoot makes me smile ear-to-ear to know such self-less people giving over their lives to offer a better life for others. We were one of many pit stops on their way home, and we were so blessed to spend a weekend with them and capture their family at Balboa Park. I am also flattered that Amber would ask me to capture her family as she is a budding photographer, too!
Here's the jumping Judah- this little guy cracks me up. All weekend he called Miss Susie. But think of someone calling with a loud speaker held up to his mouth as you are walking on the on the opposite side of a long hallway trying to get your attention to show you things like, say, snails.
Miss SUSIEEE!! MISS SUSIIIIEEE! A snail is outside.
I miss him.
Hey look, it's Rocky and Bullwinkle:
One more of mama by herself. She has such a beautiful spirit-inside and out.
Enjoy your sneak peek, Litzingers on the Go!
